What is CMMS?

CMMS (China Marketing and Media Study) is a survey of 12 major cities in mainland China. It includes information on demographics, product and brand usage, and media audience information for magazines, newspapers, television, radio, cinema and outdoor. The survey was conducted by Sinomonitor Inc., in conjunction with BMRB International. The official analytical computer software is provided by Telmar International.

With approximately 50,000 interviews per annum, CMMS is the largest survey of its type ever undertaken. The sample is comprised of 12 key cities. Projections are made to each individual cities total, as well as to the sum of all 12 cities.

"CMMS is an indispensable study for any marketer hoping to build their product or media brands, or perform effective media planning in the burgeoning Chinese market," said Dr. Zhang Zhong-liang, President and CEO of Sinomonitor Inc. and Secretary General of the China Economic Monitoring & Analysis Center (CEMAC).

Sinomonitor Inc., established in 1994, is a commercial research company related to CEMAC - a non-profit organisation jointly initiated and established by the State Statistical Bureau of China and other Chinese government agencies.

"This study presents our clients with precisely the information they need in this exciting and rapidly developing market-place", said Richard Silman, Managing Director, BMRB International.

BMRB International is a leading worldwide research company, based in the U.K., with extensive experience in the collection of single source marketing and media data. CMMS uses BMRB's Target Group Index (TGI) methodology for media measurement, which it pioneered and which has been the standard for such measurement for over 25 years. The TGI methodology is now used in a number of countries throughout the world.

Telmar, the world's leading supplier of media/marketing planning and analysis software for more than 30 years, has been selected to provide its software and customer support to subscribers of the survey worldwide.
