Dear Seth and all, Thanks for your responses. Just to let everybody know who we are I'll give a short history of our company. I founded WordSmith a little under three years ago as a language services company providing Turkish and multi-national professional copy writing, adaptation and dubbing services in 15 languages, including most European languages and all the languages of the former-Soviet republics of the Central Asian and Caucasian Region (i.e. Azeri, Turkmen, Tajik, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Georgian and Armenian) as well as a number of Balkan languages including Romanian and Bulgarian. We do a lot of work in Russian and some in Ukrainian. As a service provider, we work with most of the major agencies here including Lowe, Leo Burnett, Saatchi, Bates, Grey, BBDO and O & M. We also work directly with the Coca-Cola System (their lawyers said we have to phrase it that way) and Procter & Gamble. In the past six moths, we have expanded our operations and begun offering film production and graphic design, with an eye to becoming a full-service agency. Thus far we have done brochures and collateral materials for Wrigley's Orbit brand targeting dental health professionals, an Indonesian textile company with local presence in Turkey, and an Uzbekistani bank. We are currently putting together an investment guide on Turkmenistan at the request of the Turkmen oil and gas monopoly, Turkmenneftegaz. If anyone has clients who would be interested in sponsorship, we can send more detailed information. Areas of interest would be oil & natural gas, suppliers to these industries, textiles (Turkmenistan is a major cotton producer) and mass market consumer goods, especially FMCG. Our ultimate aim is to become an export markets agency based in Turkey and serving companies from here or with local presence who sell their goods or services outside Turkey. This, of course, was the reason for my questions about trade magazines. Most Turkish companies are not in a position to need or be able to afford traditional mass media advertising, but they, in response to competition from the Far East, do need to find a way to reach their customers directly by passing the wholesalers who have until now been their access points to many markets, particularly North America. One of the areas we are focusing on is direct mail marketing, so any suggestions and pointers would be helpful. We have a membership building DM project underway for the Cultural Heritage Preservation Foundation located in New York and Istanbul, which is working to preserve the multi-cultural heritage of Anatolia -- the historically significant remains of the civilizations of the Hittites, Urartians, Greeks, Romans, Armenians, Seljuk Turks and Ottomans and are looking to do more direct mail for Orbit and the Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau. Direct Mail is something entirely new in Turkey, so we are one of the few sources of accurate mailing lists. Our lists are available through NameBank in Baltimore. I hope that's a reasonable summary of who we are and what we do. I'll be more than happy to elaborate on anything which might be of interest. Beau Higgins.
