Re: What is a TAP plan?

My understanding of tap plans is that they feature equal day part
distribution, regardless of the flight parameters. I have purchased both
3 day part tap plans and 4 part. If the plan includes a full run of 7
days, that would more accurately be described as an OES optimum
efficiency schedule.

While I frequently purchase highly vertical blitz type schedules, I
think that you have to give great merit to the oes idea. Primarily
because the concept behind it is to reach all of the stations cume,
which is generally the spirit in which you purchase the station. Tap is
more of a thing you do to keep peace with the gouging that goes on in
some day parts where the big comglamorants want to dictate how you
advertise. I have encountered forced taps in many markets, particularly
where the big 3 or 4 control the market. You never like it but some
times you have to deal with it. And yes, yes, yes, regardless of what
you do you have to verify that the station runs what you bought. I have
also purchased ros, and come up smelling like a rose when you know who
you are buying from and what the station avails are. Has anyone ever
complained about an inexpensive howard stern, dr. laura ,rush or other
drive time spot? A tap that is written up ros, falls on the salesman's
head, not the station's. It would be misrepresentation and you would
need a new rep.
