In a message dated 95-12-31 13:41:38 EST, you write: >According to "Success" magazine, 35,000 people per week become involved in >network marketing - the term MLM is outdated - in North America . This means >that you are also making judgments about 1.82M other people/ year. In addition >75% of the homes in North America have made a purchase from a network >marketing company, so perhaps you are making a judgment about their intelligence too.< And millions of people have been burned by purchasing penny stocks, shoddy home improvements, bad auto mechanics, given to "charitable" organizations which aren't, etc. The largest term insurance sales organization in the country was a MLM scam which was exposed about 4 years ago. It no longer exists. Millions of people lost billions of dollars on that one. It's only indicative of how trusting and naive a large portion of our population is. The term MLM has become outdated because the public's perception of it is negative. So, they now call themselves "Network Marketers" in hopes that the naive won't know that it's the same wolf in a different sheep's clothing. Eventually, after that name is sullied, they'll declare that one "outdated" and come up with another one. >I am sorry if you have been 'burned' at some time, but there are crooks in all >businesses, including your so called "legitimate" businesses.< I've never been burned by a MLM. But, I do own a pocket calculator. That's all you need to expose the impossibility of the marketing plans of MLMs that so many naive people so desperately want to believe in. You may want to subscribe to Market-L. It's comprised of about 950 professional marketers. Express your opinions about "Network Marketing" there and have some real experts explain the reality of the business to you. Or, if you prefer, I can forward some articles that I saved from that list - articles that you probably won't enjoy reading because they they clearly explain the fallacies and hidden realities of MLMs. I hope this eventually helps you to have a Happier New Year. Sincerely, Jacques Werth
