Could it be a simple attempt to take advantage of a market desire for
"non-American food"? At least locally here in NYC, Goya has done a fairly
good job of establishing itself with the hispanic market . . . and I'd guess
with others who like/want to make that kind of food at home.

Do you know how close the packaging comes to Goya?
